Games change all the time. The market for games as a form of entertainment is huge and is still growing. In addition, games are increasingly used in education, training or for product innovation: the applied games.
Within ICT & Game Design and Technology you will learn how to apply your ICT knowledge to the creative development of games, working with the most up-to-date game development tools. The games that are developed are a mix of entertainment and applied games where you work for real clients. We challenge you to be inquisitive and innovative by using new technologies, such as augmented reality (AR) or virtual reality (VR). We also challenge you to create games in new environments, such as the swimming pool or the forest.
"With Gamedesign you not only choose a specialisation, but also a community." Michael Schifferling - Lecturer ICT & Game Design and Technology
In the specialisation ICT & Game Design and Technology you will work with state-of-the-art developing platforms (like PC’s, Tablets and SmartPhones) and you will work with the newest interface technology like Oculus Rift, Leap Motion, Brain Computing interfaces. You will use these instruments to develop games in a multi-disciplinary team for real commissioning parties.
We apply the Playcentric Design approach during the semesters. You will learn to take your idea from concept to validated, playable game. The courses will make sure you will feel comfortable in the domain of games and they will deal with concepting, 3d design, sound design and tooling.
Whatever you learn in the Game Design & Technology programme is directly applicable in the field.
Depending on your profile and your preferences, you will specialise as a gameplay programmer, game/level designer and/or tool developer. Students of Game Design and Technology typically complete their study at companies like Little Chicken Game company, Ranj (our Partner in Education), Vanguard Games, Fantazm, Spil Games and GGZe Gamelabs.
